Our body relaxes and seems to suspend its routine activities. This is the moment when - quite unexpectedly - a subtler light shapes our view of the world. Our gaze softens and blurs, while our pupil seems to amuse itself just opening and closing.

In these moments of absence the eyes aren't distracted by exactness: colors play together, forms dance by as the physical world is transformed into emotion. How long will this instinctive
state last before life calls us back, and objects resume their identity?

With his instant photographs, Xavier Damon captures these elusive moments ...

The artist has worked deftly with light to extract substance and pure color from objects, then transcribes them to paper. His large format(40"x48") photography work begins with instant prints produced with a Polaroid camera, you'll notice the original format preserved in the final work.
