The series Visual Echoes grew out of McClung's fascination with serendipitous, often magical, experiences in urban spaces. Using multiple images, the collages explore perception—not as a continuous panorama, but as a series of intensely apprehended details. While the assembled, multi-layered composites may be recognizable as a familiar street scene, popular destination, or architectural landmark, they are also about the vibrancy of a place—its motion and energy, as well as the implied stories from the particular time when she was there.
