Francois Dolmetsch is the grandson of Arnold Dolmetsch and the son of Carl Dolmetsch, from whom he received his early musical training. Educated at the King's College Cambridge, he has lived since 1962 in South America and has worked as a photographer for many years. He has held numerous exhibitions in galleries around the world.
These black and white images bring together the symbolic power of natural shapes. Notable are the logarithmic spiraling of sea shells and philosophical ideas of harmony and balance as expressed in Chinese and other cultures. Perhaps there are echoes of Dolmetsch's musical background, with the ideas of contrast, tempo, and repetition of motifs throughout his work.
